This species of tree can be found in south and central Americas. This beautiful tree can grow up to 200 ft height and is usually the one tree you see towering over all others. The Kapok tree will usually stand out amongst all other species due to its unique root base and height. The bases of this tree are not unusual to grow 9- 19ft in thickness. This tree is the same species of tree that the movie Avatar featured.    This Root system was found in the Tulin river in Costa Rica at low tide. This tree was a juvenile tree that had been found sitting in the river bottom. I noticed the root due to one of the shoots sticking out of the water. Being a very difficult task to retrieve this beautiful piece I needed to wait for a full moon, extreme low tide to extract this piece. I teamed up with a local wood worker and rented a diesel Ford Bronco with a winch, a chainsaw and trailer. This piece took about 2 weeks to retrieve do to its location. We are so happy with the way it all went down. The measurements of this are roughly 42"x44" x19" hand can accommodate round, square and rectangular piece of glass.
