This monkey pod desk measures 41"W x 73L x 32"H sanded and finished with several Coats of lacquer for durability. The The desk has waterfall edges which means the grain of the wood from the desk top follow down the legs which gives the piece a very unique and beautiful look. The monkey aka rain tree is a very special and beautiful species. This particular piece is sourced from a farm in Costa Rica. These trees grow 100-125 ft and the trunk is around 3-4ft thick. It is has very similar look to Koa wood and Parota with the colors of dark Browns and golds and the sap wood/edge being more beige or tan. It's name rain tree comes from the tree folding up its leaves while it rains allowing the rain to pass through to share with the vegetation down below. A big canopy tree like this would have know growth underneath but you will find greenery down below.Live edge . Each piece is absolutely unique in its own way and can not be duplicated only replicated. The wood is sourced from Costa Rica and part of the money will go back to Costa Rica for reforestation as well as childhood development.
